Emma Willard School Reviews

When I came to EWS at age 15, I was shy and afraid to share my opinions. Emma Willard gave me confidence and, now in college, I feel fully prepared to handle the world.

I recently graduated from EWS and I would never trade the experience that I got there for anything. Academically it was challenging and prepared me well for the demands of college. Socially my friends are my sisters and it was such a supportive environment to grow into a woman in.

As a recent EWS alum, I only have great things to say about my experience at the school. It was the perfect environment for me to grow as a student and as a young woman. I can't imagine a more supportive community of faculty and staff, and I am still in touch with a great many of them. I am quite certain that the friendships I made at Emma Willard will be very long-lasting. Despite the stress I may have felt as a student there, in the end, I feel that my hard work paid off. For many people, Emma Willard is what you make of it. If you are willing to do the work, embrace the traditions and take advantage of the opportunities, you will have an amazing experience like I did.

My daughter was at first not wild about going to an all girls school (coming from small town coed public middle school) but the experience turned out to be transformative. 'Emma' has a gift for bringing out the absolute best in each student - and then building on strengths in one area to give confidence and capacity in other disciplines. There is tremendous joie de vivre on campus. The girls are terrifically supportive of each other. Teachers are so dedicated and talented. The course work is demanding but there is an incredible network - led by the advisor who advocates for a small number of students at any one time This is a culture in which the students are encouraged to aspire to do great things - and the number of ways they can excel and contribute and excel is enormous. Highest recommendation!

EW is a good school. It has a very good art program; while, the quality of other classes varies due to the teachers. A big campus with a very beautiful views (looks like a castle), right now there is a constraction going on, so in a year the school will look even more beatuful. It's a nice place to live in. Very safe. Good sport teams. Although there are only about 300 students, there are many international students from different countries such as Mexico, Spain, France, Gerany, Russia, Ukraine, and Asian countries. But if you don't wanna pay 20,000-30,000 a year or don't wanna be in all-girl school and you can be a day student, then you can find a public school with the same/better education (I don't think you can find better views though)...like Niskayuna Hight School, for example...peace. :)

Music and arts are fabulous. Academics are fabulous - at or above college level. Quality of teachers and courses varies but you have choices so you can select well if you're savvy. Lifelong friendships made.

Nice instalations,I think this school was better in its academic facts, the teachers are not so good in his academic skills, I will not recommend this school to another parents.

Emma Willard has been an excellent experience for my daughter. She had been agonizing over where to go to high school ever since the 6th grade. We live in an area of the country where going to a boarding school is quite uncommon and we also have very good schools in our area. However, my daughter wanted a really good education that would prepare her very well for college as she is hoping to go to medical school. Emma Willard has exceeded all of her expectations. The school has excellent extra-curricular programing and offers plenty of opportunity for parental involvement. I would highly recommend this school to any parent who wants their daughter to achieve her highest potential. Be advised the student must be willing to study and work very hard!

My daughter is now a sophomore at Emma Willard. The standards are extremely high and each girl is challenged academically, socially and morally. The academics are rigorous, the commitment to community is fostered both to school and country and integrity is paramount. Teachers work with students to improve their understanding of difficult material and they are prepared for the world. This is a boarding school with day students and for those who board, independence and taking care of their day is well taught as they move throughout the 4 years of high school.

This school is a wonderful educational and social expierience for any girl who goes there
