Now in retirement from higher education administration (University of Arkansas, State University of New York, and Louisiana State University), Bob Blackmon lives and paints in Troy, New York. He is primarily a still life artist whose works are characterized by rich colors and strong reflections. He started painting in 1973 and has studied under master artists Bobby Tompkins (Greenville, Mississippi) and Bill Zaner (Boerne, Texas). Blackmon, a member of the Colonie Art League, has shown his works at Louisiana State University and shows in Leland, Mississippi and Schenectady, Albany, and Colonie, New York. His painting, “Taste of New York”, was recently juried into the Pruyn House Show in Newtonville, New York. In December 2006 he will have a month-long, one-person show at the East Greenbush Library, East Greenbush, New York. All of his paintings are oil on canvas, and most are available for purchase.
